At The Institute of Leadership personal development is central to how you join, retain and progress through the grades. We encourage you to engage with our learning resources and complete MyLeadership components in order to demonstrate your commitment to learning.

Open to all – Come and join us!
You're passionate about developing your leadership capability but don't meet the professional membership criteria. You want to be part of a network of like-minded people and get to work on your leadership and management skills all in one place.
As a community member, you can develop your skills through MyLeadership, our e-learning platform, access curated learning resources and webinars, and keep up to date with weekly news updates, podcasts and expert research.
Should you want to get professional recognition, you can upgrade to an Associate by completing, and being certified in, two dimensions of MyLeadership.


Fees: £100 per annum (only £8.33 per month!) 




Professional grades - Get CV boosting recognition

Professional grades give you post-nominal letters, which you can use to enhance your CV and demonstrate your commitment to leadership.

Associate - with space.png

Associate - AIoL

Aimed at new or aspiring managers who are at the start of their leadership journey 
To qualify you'll need to be an enthusiastic manager who wants to further your skills and become a confident, dynamic leader, plus;

EITHER a Level 3 qualification (definition of levels)
OR an equivalent Institute Approved programme
OR a mapped military rank
OR Manage teams/resources to positively deliver results for up to 1 year
Alternatively if you are a Community member you can upgrade to Associate level by completing, and being certified in, two dimensions of MyLeadership (one being Authenticity).  Please contact our membership team on +44(0) 1543 266886 should you want to upgrade.
Fees:  £150 per annum (£12.50 per month).



Member - with space.png

Member - MIoL

Aimed at experienced managers who want to boost their leadership potential
To qualify you'll need to be an experienced professional, who wants to fine tune your skills and learn more from other great leaders, plus;
EITHER a Level 5 qualification (definition of levels)
OR an equivalent Institute Approved programme
OR a mapped military rank
OR Manage teams/resources at middle management level, for a minimum of 1 year
Alternatively, if you are an Associate you can upgrade to Member level by completing, and being certified in, all five dimensions of MyLeadership. Please contact our Membership team on +44(0) 1543 266886 should you want to upgrade.


Fees: £150 per annum (£12.50 per month). 



Fellow - with space.png

Fellow - FIoL

Aimed at highly experienced managers who are looking to share their knowledge to support the community
To qualify you'll need to be a senior manager operating at a strategic level for a minimum of 3 years who wants to help others become successful leaders, plus;
EITHER hold a Level 7 (min 60 credits) qualification (definition of levels)
OR an equivalent Institute Approved programme
OR evidence your experience with 3 years of CPD
OR a mapped military rank
For all qualification criteria you will need to provide a sponsor who can validate your experience.
We encourage you to get involved on The Hub (our community forum) and be part of our event programme where you can share, challenge and support other members.
We also encourage you to advocate our vision – to inspire great leadership, everywhere.
Fees: £175 per annum (£14.58/month).
