Requirements & qualifications
To apply for IoL Fellowship, you’ll need to meet one of the following criteria:

Over 3 years of experience as a senior leader

Level 7 qualification or higher
OR
-
Completion of an Institute Approved programme (or evidence of 3 years’ CPD)
What’s the process to become a Fellow?
Once you've submitted your Fellowship application, it will be reviewed against our Fellowship criteria.
As part of the application, you'll be asked to provide evidence of your strategic leadership experience, along with supporting information demonstrating that you meet our additional eligibility requirements for Fellowship. You'll also be asked to explain how you intend to contribute to The Institute and the wider leadership community.
In addition, your sponsor will be asked to provide a statement confirming how you meet the criteria for Fellowship.
Following the panel review, the Membership Team will contact you to confirm the outcome of your application. Typically, an application takes around 1-2 months to be approved from the point of receipt.
If your application is successful, your Fellowship will be activated and you'll receive further information about your Fellowship benefits and recognition.
If your application is unsuccessful, you'll receive feedback from the panel, together with guidance on how to strengthen your application before resubmitting.
Do I need a sponsor?
Yes. You need a sponsor or a referee who can support your application and confirm you meet the criteria. The sponsor allows us to carry out due diligence and ensure all Fellows in our community share in our vision and values.
