The Institute of Leadership is the UK’s professional body for leadership. We exist to inspire great leadership, everywhere. Through membership, accreditation, bespoke pathways, and consultancy, we give organisations and individuals the tools, recognition and community they need to thrive.
We believe leadership is not defined by position but by action. That means every person at every level has the potential to lead. Our role is to unlock that potential, raise standards, and create leaders who are capable, confident and values-driven.

The Institute of Supervision & Management (ISM) is founded by J.K. Evans.

New routes for supervisors
NEBSS (later NEBS) launches under City & Guilds to support supervisory education.

Two strengths, one Institute
ISM and NEBS merge to form the Institute of Leadership & Management.

An independent future
The Institute separates from City & Guilds, sharpening its focus on leadership development.

Expanding global reach
ABE Global becomes an independent subsidiary, extending international impact.
