What do you do now?
Currently, I am Head of Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness at Mubadala Health. However, shortly, I am moving into a Regional Director – Talent & Development for a multinational organization.
Where did your career start?
I started my career at British Airways as Cabin Crew - this instilled a discipline in me for high service standards, working with different cultures, and values-based leadership.
Has there been a stage in your life where you first appreciated what great leadership looked like?
At Godiva Chocolatier when I was Regional Learning & Development Manager for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, I was able to really appreciate what great leadership looked like. I was working with a fantastic Regional Human Resources Director who from the onset of my tenure allowed me to work autonomously, understood the importance of treating employees as people first, and emphasised on talent development. She really embodied the values, had a great understanding of the business and definitely had a prominent seat on the table of executives.
Do you have any examples of what you have done to develop yourself as a leader?
Leadership is a lifelong commitment and journey. I have always been dedicated to my development as a leader. I have taken various international certifications and courses. The most impactful program was the Co-Active Leadership course I took in early 2022. It focuses on leaders being in action, together. Or perhaps it might be more appropriate to say being together, in action. Their model of leadership is designed to describe every role a person can play in a group. Embodying the model, as a leader, has allowed me to become much more conscious in my leadership and noticing when certain types of leadership is missing, naming it and/or addressing it.
How do you think Leadership has benefitted you?
A leader infuses a sense of positivity and manages others to reach a specified goal. Leadership has had a very profound influence throughout my life by affecting my family, friends, teammates, and the overall decisions that I have made.
