Leadership Essentials: Leading Projects

Projects are usually complex, involve a number of people undertaking different roles. Sometimes you may be physically close to your project team, but on occasions your project activity might be performed in isolation or be physically distanced from other tasks and team members. The key to successful project management is people, and the project manager is their coordinator. You may be asked to manage a project, or your organisation may have specialist project managers. Either way, the role requires the project manager to have qualities over and above knowing about the tools and techniques of project management.

‘Leadership Essentials: Leading Projects’ provides an overview of why leading projects is essential for leadership capability and includes ‘Top Tips’ on how leading projects can help you become a better leader.

The Essentials leaflet is supported by three Spotlights that look at aspects of leading projects in more detail to help you improve your leadership skills:

  • Tools and Techniques
