FAQs

What's the process to become a Fellow?

Once you've registered your interest with us, you'll be sent the application form within 48 hours. The form asks you to evidence your level of seniority and your leadership experiences.

Once submitted, the form will be reviewed against our Fellowship criteria and if any further supporting information is required, you will be contacted.

In addition, your sponsor will be asked to provide a statement confirming how you meet the criteria for Fellowship.

On the 2nd Thursday of every month your application will be reviewed by the Fellowship Panel, and you will be advised of the outcome the following week.

Typically, an application takes around 1-2 months to be approved from the point of receipt.

Do I need a sponsor?

Yes. You need a sponsor or a referee who can support your application and confirm you meet the criteria. The sponsor allows us to carry out due diligence and ensure all Fellows in our community share in our vision and values.

What our Fellows think.

I am so proud of my fellowship. I wanted a recognisable membership that reflected the challenges in leadership I had faced before becoming an executive coach, something that reflected my experience to prospective clients at a glance. The Institute is highly valued by my clients and so it made sense that I should apply to join. I am honoured to be a member and thankful for the support I have received.

- Rebecca Mander FIoL, Executive Coach , Guru You

Without doubt, the greatest aspect of being a Fellow of The Institute is the power of connection to other Fellows around the world, who are shaping the future of work.

- Samie Al-Achrafi FIoL, Marmalade Fish

Being a member of The Institute of Leadership means much more to me than a certificate and post-nominal letters, although those are helpful indicators to clients that I am investing in knowledge and skills that will benefit them. I am a better leader for my membership, and a more reflective practitioner.

- Cathi Shovlin FIoL, Founder, Human Revolutions

Joining The Institute brought me into contact with other leaders and managers across the community, and their tools and platforms enable Fellows to support the development of the Associates and Members by sharing and mentoring. I also believe that leadership and management skills are nurtured and continuously developed regardless of our professional seniority, and the resources and research offered by The Institute help me to stay up-to-date and continue to grow as a leader.

- Alan Lambert FIoL People Development Projects Leader - Global HR Strategy, Total Energies

Being a Fellow of The Institute of Leadership is not just a recognition of your experience as a leader. It is also a great opportunity to share your knowledge, skills and experience to support growth and professional development of The Institute’s community of members through the MyMentoring platform. Therefore, being a Fellow means contributing to shaping the future of leadership and management thinking and practice worldwide.

- Zoryna O’Donnell, MBA, MSC, FIoL, Founder and Director of L&M Plus Consulting Ltd
