Meet the Author: In conversation with Andy Lopata and Ruth Gotian

Join us for the next installment of our virtual Meet the Author series, featuring Andy Lopata, one of Europe’s top business networking strategists, and Dr. Ruth Gotian, a globally recognised expert in mentoring and leadership.

Together they’ll dive into their book The Financial Times Guide to Mentoring, which was recently named runner-up Leadership Book of the Year in our 2024 Leadership Awards.

This event has now closed for new registrations, however this event is recorded so please do check back in 24 hours if you would like to catch up.

What to expect

Research on mentoring indicates that those who are mentored out-earn and outperform those who are not. Yet, despite these undeniable advantages, only 76% of professionals recognise the benefits of having a mentor, and just 37% actively have one.

So, how can you make mentoring work for you and your organisation? This session will take a close-up look at key themes highlighted in the book, including:

  • The undisputed benefits of having a mentor

  • How to do mentoring well, both as a mentor and within your organisation

  • Practical strategies for building effective mentoring programmes

There will also be an opportunity to put your mentoring queries to the authors themselves, in this up-close and informal session.

About the book

The Financial Times Guide to Mentoring gives you the tools you need to understand what mentoring is and its benefits, learn how to mentor effectively, and be mentored. By breaking down each stage of the process, this book will enable senior and aspiring executives to both give the support they need to act as a mentor to future talent in their organisation and seek mentoring for themselves that they had thought no longer relevant but which will stretch them and fast track their further career progress.
