International Leadership Week 2026 (ILW26)

Celebrating leadership, connection & lasting impact

đź“… 16 - 20 March 2026

The Institute of Leadership proudly brought together a global community of leaders, managers and aspiring professionals for International Leadership Week 2026 (ILW26), a powerful celebration of leadership in all its forms.

From thought-provoking conversations to meaningful connections, ILW26 once again demonstrated why leadership matters, not just in organisations, but across communities, industries and society as a whole.

A week of connection and conversation

ILW26 united individuals and organisations from across the world to share ideas, insights and experiences around leadership.

This year’s theme, The Power of Your Network: Building connections that shape the future, placed a spotlight on the relationships that enable leadership to thrive.

Throughout the week, we saw:

  • Engaging discussions on leadership in a complex, connected world

  • Events and networking opportunities across the UK and beyond

  • Vibrant online conversation driven by the global IoL community

  • Leaders at all stages sharing experiences, challenges and insights

From LinkedIn Live sessions to in-person networking breakfasts, ILW26 created space for leaders to come together, reflect and learn from one another.

What is International Leadership Week?

International Leadership Week (ILW) is more than a campaign; it is a global platform for elevating leadership standards and inspiring meaningful change.

At its core, ILW exists to:

  • Celebrate leadership at every level, not just those with titles

  • Create opportunities for learning, reflection and development

  • Connect individuals across sectors, cultures and career stages

  • Champion inclusive, responsible and effective leadership

In an increasingly complex world, leadership plays a critical role in building trust, driving positive change and creating resilient organisations.

That’s why, each year, The Institute of Leadership brings this community together to spark conversations that shape the future of leadership.

The power of networks in leadership

The 2026 theme highlighted something fundamental: no leader succeeds alone.

Across the week, we explored how:

  • Strong networks enable collaboration and innovation

  • Mentoring and coaching create ripple effects across organisations

  • Diverse perspectives strengthen decision-making

  • Relationships shape not just careers, but leadership legacies

As discussions unfolded, one message stood out clearly: leadership today is connected, not hierarchical. It is built through relationships, shared learning and collective wisdom.

A collective effort across the IoL Community

ILW26 was made possible not just by those attending events, but by the entire IoL community coming together.

From internal teams across finance, HR, membership, marketing, sales and systems, to our members, partners and ambassadors, this was a truly collective effort.

It’s a powerful reminder that leadership is not something we simply talk about - it’s something we live, every day, across every part of the organisation.

Building a lasting legacy

Perhaps the most important takeaway from ILW26 is this:

Leadership is not defined by position, but by impact.

The conversations, connections and insights shared throughout the week don’t end here. They continue through:

  • The relationships formed

  • The ideas taken back into organisations

  • The leaders inspired to think differently

International Leadership Week continues to grow each year, reinforcing its role as a global movement dedicated to improving leadership practice and creating meaningful, lasting impact.

A fantastic opportunity to connect with other leaders and share ideas in a relaxed, open atmosphere.

The smaller, local format made it easy to have genuine conversations about real-world challenges, with plenty of opportunity to bounce ideas around with others facing similar situations.

I had such great conversations with the hosts and attendees and got so into it, we carried the conversation on down the street to the car park.

When you're often working on your own, it's easy to forget how good it is to connect to other people. Thanks for making this happen!

- Dominic Weston, Flip Flop Films

The name badges with an ice breaker question/statement were novel. It was great to meet so many IoL staff to understand more about what they do.

Looking ahead

As we reflect on the success of ILW26, one thing is clear: the future of leadership is collaborative, connected and human.

To everyone who took part, thank you for being part of this journey.

Let’s continue the conversation. Let’s continue building our networks. And most importantly, let’s continue shaping the future of leadership, together.
